SWEET & SPICED
If you are a chai addict, let me introduce you to Sri Lankan Style Iced Masala Chai! One of my favourite drinks to enjoy in the summer during the work days. During the cooler months I am addicted to a good cup of masala chai, but I’m always craving an iced version for when the weather starts to heat up.
Now if you’re never had masala chai let me break it down for you. It’s a rich, spiced tea that combines black tea leaves with a blend of aromatic spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and sometimes black pepper. These spices are simmered together with water, milk, and a touch of sweetener, creating a creamy, fragrant beverage that warms you from the inside out. This recipe captures all the traditional flavours of a masala chai with the addition of condensed milk and cooled over some ice to enjoy on your patio under the sun.
It’s a must-try for your summer drink lineup! Imagine the bold flavors of traditional chai tea—think cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger—chilled to perfection and poured over ice. This isn’t your average iced tea; it’s a spicy, creamy, and utterly refreshing treat that’s perfect for hot days. Sweetened just right and topped off with your choice of milk or a dairy-free alternative, it’s like a cool breeze in a glass. Whip up a batch for your next picnic or lazy afternoon, and get ready to be hooked on this delightful twist on a classic favorite!
