Easy Gulab Jamun

VEGAN | Sweet Treat

These vegan gulab jamuns are made with creamy cashews instead of dairy, so they’re soft, melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and packed with all the cozy cardamom goodness. Perfect for when you want a lighter, plant-based version of the classic treat. Try them for a sweet snack, special occasions, or just because—you’re in for a tasty surprise!

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of white bread (crust removed)
  • 1/2 cup cashews
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp of pistachio crumbs
  • oil for frying

Directions

  1. Blend slices of bread in a food processor to make breadcrumbs; set aside.
  2. Blend cashews with 1/2 cup of water to form a smooth paste.
  3. In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and cashew paste to form a dough.
    Once the dough becomes sticky, shape it into 8 golf ball-sized portions.
  4. Deep-fry the balls until golden brown (about 3 minutes), then set aside.
  5. In a saucepan, combine sugar, spices, water, and lemon juice to make a syrup. Bring it to a boil, then let it cool slightly.
  6. Pour the syrup over the fried balls and let them soak for a few hours to absorb the flavors.
  7. Serve warm, topped with pistachios. Enjoy!
