EASY WEEKNIGHT MEAL| 30 mins
Alu Mus Curry, or Beef and Potato Curry, is a delicious and hearty dish that reflects the rich and vibrant flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine. Whenever the weather is cold, dark, and gloomy I love to make this dish to help cozy up. Its a filling dish with enough spice and heat to help warm you up. The tender beef chunks and potatoes are sauteed together and a traditional Sri Lankan spice blend is added in. The spice blend is a mix of paprika, roasted curry powder, cumin, and a generous helping of toasted curry leaves. Add some chopped tomatoes for a burst of freshness.
To finish, garnish with more fresh curry leaves and cilantro, adding an earthy depth to this already flavourful dish.
To keep the beef juicy, we’ll throw in a tablespoon of white vinegar. Plus, vinegar works wonders in boosting that meaty flavour. And when you combine this spice blend with creamy coconut milk, it truly captures all the delicious notes of a classic Sri Lankan dish.

Tip #1: After adding the potatoes, pour in a splash of water to prevent them from burning and ensure they soften properly. Since potatoes take longer to cook than beef, giving them a head start ensures they’ll be tender by the time the beef joins the mix.
