Healthy Gulab Jamun
Ingredients
- 6 slices of white bread (crust removed)
- 1/2 cup cashews
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp of pistachio crumbs
- oil for frying
Directions
- Blend slices of bread in a food processor to make breadcrumbs; set aside.
- Blend cashews with 1/2 cup of water to form a smooth paste.
- In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and cashew paste to form a dough.
Once the dough becomes sticky, shape it into 8 golf ball-sized portions. - Deep-fry the balls until golden brown (about 3 minutes), then set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, spices, water, and lemon juice to make a syrup. Bring it to a boil, then let it cool slightly.
- Pour the syrup over the fried balls and let them soak for a few hours to absorb the flavors.
- Serve warm, topped with pistachios. Enjoy!
