Seenie Sambol Buns
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp instant yeast
- 40 ml warm water
- 3 ¾ cup flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 185ml cream
- 150ml milk
- Vegetable oil for drizzle
- 1 egg
- Seenie Sambol filling
Directions
- Active yeast by soaking it in water for 10mins.
- Heat the cream and milk, but remove them from the heat just before they start to boil.
- In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients, then add the activated yeast and warmed milk.
- Knead until a sticky dough forms. Drizzle oil around the dough in the bowl. Cover with a warm towel and let it rest in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions.
- Place 1 tablespoon of Seenie Sambol filling in the center of each portion and fold the edges like wrapping a present.
- Place the buns on a baking tray and let them rest, uncovered, for another 30 minutes.
- Whisk an egg and brush it over the tops of the buns.
- Bake in the oven at 350°F for about 15 minutes, or until the tops and bottoms are golden brown.
